Universal Studios Japan opened a new area, Donkey Kong Country, on December 11, expanding the area of Super Nintendo World by 1.7 times.
A “Grand Opening Ceremony” was held in front of the entrance just prior to the opening. Donkey Kong and Mario, the stars of the new area, USJ President and CEO J.L. Bonnier, and Nintendo Representative Director and Fellow Shigeru Miyamoto gathered to count down the days with guests who had been looking forward to the event.
After the ceremony, Donkey Kong and Mr. Miyamoto led the guests into the jungle.
