JR East will begin selling green tickets for green cars on the Chuo Line Rapid and Ome Lines, which are currently in operation for a trial period, from March 15, 2025.
This service will be provided on the Chuo Line Rapid from Tokyo to Otsuki and on the Ome Line from Tachikawa to Ome, with Car No. 4 and No. 5 set up as double-decker green cars.
Fares are 750 yen with Suica Green Fare for up to 50 km (Tokyo-Shinjuku to Hachioji/Haijima and Shinjuku to Takao/Ome), and 1010 yen for paper tickets. Fares for up to 100 km (Tokyo-Ohtsuki/Ome and Shinjuku-Ohtsuki) are 1,000 yen and 1,260 yen, respectively.
The two-story car has swivel seats, power outlets and tables, free Wi-Fi, and eliminates onboard ticket gates by touching mobile Suica and other devices.
In addition, the “Green Car Trial Period” will end at the end of the train on March 14 in conjunction with the start of the paid service.
