Kurobe-Unazuki Canyon Route Abandoned for Opening to Public in 2025. Kurobe Gorge Railway “cannot foresee when the entire route will be open to the public.”

Toyama Prefecture announced on December 13 that it will postpone the opening to the public and the release date of travel products for the Kurobe Unazuki Canyon Route, which connects Zelkidaira to Kurobe Dam in Kurobe Gorge, until after the 2026 season. Details will be announced as soon as the full opening date of the Kurobe Gorge Railway Unazuki to Keyakidaira route is determined.

The Kurobe Gorge Railway is currently working on restoring the Kanetsuri Bridge between Nekomata and Kanetsuri, which was damaged by falling rocks caused by the Noto Peninsula Earthquake of 2024.
