JICA President Akihiko Tanaka met with Ukraine’s First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Yuliya Sviridenko at JICA headquarters on December 16.
During the meeting, President Tanaka stated that Japan will continue its support for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of Ukraine with a view to sharing Japanese knowledge and technology, and emphasized that Japan would like to provide further support in the area of mine action, especially in preparation for the Ukraine Mine Action Conference in the fall of 2025. He also expressed hope for the participation of relevant Ukrainian ministries and agencies in the promotion of private-sector partnerships, as well as support from the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine for Japanese companies that intend to expand their business operations in Ukraine.
In response, Mr. Sviridenko, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, expressed his appreciation for JICA assistance in the areas of energy and mine and UXO countermeasures. He also stated that he would like to strengthen cooperation to promote the entry of Japanese companies into the region.
