The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a Grant Agreement (G/A) with the Government of Pakistan on December 17 in Islamabad for the “Mother and Child Healthcare Equipment Development Project in the Flood Affected Areas and Surrounding Areas in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province”. The agreement was concluded with the government of Japan.

Business Objectives
This project will target primary, secondary, and tertiary medical facilities (21 facilities) located in the areas affected by the 2022 floods and adjacent areas in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province (KP Province). The project aims to strengthen the diagnosis and treatment systems at each medical facility and to improve the soundness of the local patient referral system, thereby contributing to the improvement of the quality of health and medical services for mothers and children.

(a) Details of facilities, equipment, etc.
Medical equipment necessary for diagnosis and treatment of maternal and child health services such as prenatal and postnatal checkups and medical services for mothers and children including high-risk pregnant women and newborns, and equipment related to the development of basic infrastructure (diagnostic ultrasound equipment, anesthesia machine (with ventilator), operating table, blood bank refrigerator, fetal heart rate monitor, X-ray fluoroscopy equipment, and transport incubators, etc.)

Detailed design, bidding assistance, construction and procurement supervision, technical guidance for operation and maintenance of procured equipment
