On December 21, JAL held a special bus tour of Narita Airport and a visit to the JAL Narita Aircraft Maintenance Center as part of the “Narita Express Tour of Airport Areas Not Open to the Public” jointly organized by JAL and JR East View Tourism & Sales.
This one-day tour was sold out in less than a week and there were many people on the waiting list.
The itinerary includes a ride on the Narita Express to Narita Airport for a tour of the undisclosed airport area. Afterwards, enjoy an in-flight lunch and event at “DINING PORT Goryotsuru,” a farmhouse-style restaurant operated by JAL Agriport, visit the “JAL Narita Aircraft Maintenance Center,” which is normally closed to the public, and then return to Tokyo on the Narita Express.
One of the most exciting features of the Narita Express is that JAL flight attendants provide hospitality on board the Narita Express. I had the opportunity to board the Narita Express on the outbound journey and witnessed this unprecedented and precious scene!
The dedicated train for the tour was the Narita Express No. 13, which departed from Shinjuku at 9:05 AM. Participants later boarded the train from Shinagawa and Tokyo, bringing the total number of participants to 40. In the car, a cabin attendant with a microphone said, “This train will take you to the Airport Terminal 2 at Narita.
(This year, 2024, is the 70th anniversary of Narita City’s incorporation as a city, and is also the 70th anniversary of Japan Airlines’ first international flight from Haneda Airport. We hope you enjoy the scenery from the windows of the Narita Express as well as the atmosphere of the airplane with our small hospitality,” he said in a speech similar to an in-flight announcement, which was met with loud applause.
