TSUBASA2025 Launch Event” will be held on Thursday, Jan. 23 at 18:00 (hybrid, free of charge)

TSUBASA, the startup support program of JICA and IDB Lab (Inter-American Development Bank Group) in Latin America and the Caribbean, will hold a launch event for the Open Innovation Challenge TSUBASA2025.

Background and Overview

The startup ecosystem in Latin America and the Caribbean has been rapidly revitalizing in recent years. In FY2021, JICA, together with IDB Lab, an innovation lab of the Inter-American Development Bank Group, will launch “TSUBASA,” a support program for Japanese solution holders with innovative ideas and business models that contribute to the SDGs in the region, in order to support the development of an environment where Japanese start-ups can engage in businesses with development potential in the region, taking advantage of the environment surrounding start-ups in the region. In FY2021, JICA, together with IDB Lab, an innovation lab of the Inter-American Development Bank Group, launched the TSUBASA program to support Japanese solution holders who have innovative ideas and business models that contribute to the SDGs in the region. Through this program, 8 companies were selected in FY2021, 11 companies in FY2022, and 9 companies in FY2023, respectively, and support has been provided.

The “Open Innovation Challenge TSUBASA2025” will be held this year as well. Prior to this, the “TSUBASA2025 Launch Event” will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2025 at JICA The event will be held at the JICA headquarters in Takebashi, Tokyo.
