On January 8, the Kansai MaaS Council announced that the “KANSAI MaaS” electronic ticketing service will support QR boarding passes.
Electronic tickets, such as those available at stations covered by JR West and the Slutto KANSAI Council’s QR ticket service “Slutto QRtto,” will gradually be handled by the “KANSAI MaaS” application. One of the advantages of introducing this service is that a single ticket can be used mutually by various transportation operators in the Kansai region.
First, the “KANSAI MaaS One-Day Pass,” a special ticket that allows unlimited rides on seven railroad companies (Osaka Metro, Kintetsu, Keihan, Nankai, JR West, Hankyu, and Hanshin), will go on sale on January 27, and the “Osaka Smart Access Pass” will go on sale on January 10 in conjunction with the opening of Yumeshima Station, the nearest station to the Osaka Kansai Expo site. The “Osaka Smart Access Pass” will be on sale for a limited time from January 10.
The “KANSAI MaaS” website, including the English version, will be renewed in March, and the “Ticket” and “Model Course” functions will be added. This will allow visitors to purchase electronic tickets, including Expo shuttle bus tickets, from outside Japan without having to download an application.
