Tahara City, Aichi Prefecture, will hold the art project “Flower Blooming Living Labo” during the “Atsumi Peninsula Rape Blossom Festival” at the Irago Rape Blossom Garden from January 18 to March 31.
Hanasaku Kurashi Labo is an art project that aims to create a happy landscape through collaboration between domestic and international artists and local citizens. Large sculptures and other works will appear in a field of more than 10 million rape blossoms spreading across the Atsumi Peninsula, surrounded by the sea. Participating artists are Hiroko Kubo, SO+BA, Haruna Nakayama, and Yuka Matsuno.
Other programs include a “Story of Old Tahara” looking back on the history of the Tahara area, a “Nanohana Tea Party” (January 18) with a special menu using local products, a “Flower Blooming Life Lab Workshop” (February 1 and 2) where visitors can experience the charm of flowers, food and art, a “High School Shop” by local high school students and performances by street performers. The program includes a “High School Shop” by local high school students, performances by street performers, and more.
From January 31 to February 2, “MINAMI Flower Days,” a traveling event, will be held at ZOU-NO-HANA Terrace in Yokohama. More than 400 varieties of flowers grown in Tahara City will be on display, and workshops for making Valentine’s Day bouquets and flower buffets (flower sales) will be held.
