On January 14, USJ and JAL launched a specially painted aircraft, “JAL x Universal Studios Japan Jet 2,” in commemoration of the opening of Donkey Kong Country.
Designed to commemorate Super Nintendo World’s new “Donkey Kong Country” area, the park’s friends are scheduled to operate on domestic flights through approximately June 2026.
Mario and Donkey Kong balloons, Minions, Sesame Street, Woody Woodpecker, and Winnie Woodpecker appeared at the unveiling event held at Itami Airport on the same day to celebrate the start of flights. The 96 passengers (including one child) who boarded the first flight from Itami to Fukuoka were seen off.
Speaking at the ceremony, Kumiko Miyasaka, Managing Executive Officer and General Manager of West Japan Regional Office of Japan Airlines, commented, “We will continue to connect Kansai with the rest of Japan, and we hope to enliven the travel experience for our customers so that they can be “super energetic.
Ryo Kanazawa, Senior Vice President of Marketing at USJ, said, “In addition to the park’s popular characters, the fourth specially-painted aircraft will also feature Donkey Kong from Donkey Kong Country, which opened last December in the Super Nintendo World area. The new design is very cute and energetic to commemorate the opening of the new Super Nintendo World.
The aircraft is an Embraer 190 (registration number: JA245J) with a total of 95 seats, including 15 Class J and 80 standard seats. In addition to headless covers and paper cups with the collaboration design, passengers will also receive a “proof of boarding sticker” (one of five different designs).
The February flight information is as follows.
