Tokyo Disney Resort and Central Japan Railway Company (JR Tokai) announced that the first special Tokaido Shinkansen train, “Wonderful Dreams Shinkansen,” will be in operation. The service will run from February 21 to mid-September.
Designed around the theme of “Fantasy Springs,” the new theme port of Tokyo DisneySea opening in June 2024, the car body will be the first specially painted train in the 60 years since the Tokaido Shinkansen was introduced, and the entire train will express the world of “Fantasy Springs”.
The service will operate on the Tokaido Shinkansen (between Tokyo and Shin-Osaka), mainly on the Hikari and Kodama trains.
The service is scheduled to begin on February 21 with the Hikari No. 632, departing Nagoya at 6:43 a.m. and arriving in Tokyo at 8:42 a.m. Stops along the way are Toyohashi, Hamamatsu, Shizuoka, Shin-Yokohama, and Shinagawa. Detailed information is available on the official website.
The special “Wonderful Dreams Shinkansen” train will use one N700A train with 16 cars. The “Frozen Kingdom” area design will be on Cars 4, 7, 10, 12, and 14. The “Rapunzel’s Forest” area design will be on Cars 2, 5, 8, 11, and 15. Cars 1 and 16 will combine the three themed areas into one design.
In addition to the car body, the interior decoration is decorated with a “Fantasy Springs” theme. The head cover design features three areas. Table sticker designs include logos, etc. (all except Green Car and Car 7).
The melody in the train will also be “Shining Future,” a song from the Disney movie “Rapunzel on the Tower,” which will be played in the Wonderful Dreams Shinkansen.
