Report meeting of JICA NGO and others proposal-based program “International Cooperation Step-up Training for Promoting Independent Living: Toward Empowerment and Networking among Persons with Disabilities
Objective.
JICA supports international cooperation activities conducted by NGOs and other civil society organizations by providing them with a wide range of necessary knowledge and information, as well as capacity building for organizational management and project implementation. The NGO Proposal-Type Program is a program in which JICA and the proposing organization collaborate to implement projects in Japan by taking advantage of each other’s strengths.
Through this program, the National Council of Centers for Independent Living (JIL) reports on the results of the “International Cooperation Step-up Training for Promoting Independent Living: Toward Empowerment and Networking among Persons with Disabilities,” which was conducted over a period of two years and seven months from April 2022 to October 2024. The project is a joint project of the Japan Disability Center (JCDC) and the Japan Disability Center (JDCC). This project was implemented with the goal of increasing the number of persons with disabilities involved in international cooperation and building a network to enable persons with disabilities in developing countries to realize independent living.
It will be a good opportunity to learn what the participants of this program felt and learned through their activities, including overseas training, and what international cooperation is from the perspective of people with disabilities, and to think about what we can do to realize a society where “no one is left behind”. We look forward to your participation!
