JR West Japan announced that the Sagano Line will ease congestion and express trains will stop temporarily at Saga-Arashiyama Station in spring.
During the holiday season, such as three consecutive weekends, spring break, and Golden Week, some trains will be operated with an increased number of cars. 42 trains will run on weekdays and 46 trains on weekends and holidays with an increased number of cars.
On weekends and holidays of March 29 and 30, April 5 and 6, and May 3-5, when particularly heavy use is expected, not only will the number of cars be increased by 48, but 10 extra trains will be operated between Kyoto Station and Saga-Arashiyama/Kameoka Station during the daytime hours.
Other measures include shortening the time when auxiliary seats are available and operating some trains with three rows of seats and wider aisles in order to ease congestion in the train.
On Saturdays and holidays during the spring vacation period, some limited express trains will make a temporary stop at Saga-Arashiyama Station, and convenient and economical ticketless limited express tickets such as “JWEST Ticketless” will be available. The price is 600 yen.
In addition, from March 20 to April 13, some of the “Kinosaki, Hashidate, and Maizuru” limited express trains will make a temporary stop at Saga-Arashiyama Station.
