GA452 to Labuan Bajo departed from Gate 11, the most central gate. The aircraft used is a Boeing 737-800, a familiar aircraft in Japan.
Garuda Indonesia’s Jakarta – Labuan Bajo route
Flight GA452: Jakarta (11:10) to Labuan Bajo (14:35), operated on Thursday and Sunday
Flight GA453: Labuhan Bajo (15:25) to Jakarta (16:45), operated on Thursday and Sunday
The cabin is a two-class configuration with business class in a 2-2 configuration in the front and economy class in a 3-3 configuration in the back.
Unlike the Airbus A330-300 that I boarded yesterday, the economy class seat is a combination of blue moquette and orange headrests with a tosca green head cover. The bright, tropical look of the seats made me feel like I was going to a resort.
Yes, the timetable above shows a huge difference in the time required, but this is not due to the jet stream (……), but to the time difference of one hour. In other words, 2 hours and 20 minutes is the actual time required. If you think of it as being like Haneda to Naha in Japan, you will realize that it is quite a distant area from Jakarta.
As I was enjoying my lunch, which was well prepared for a domestic flight, an announcement was made that we would be arriving shortly. Unfortunately, the tropical sun was hidden by thick clouds, and the weather was not very clear, but since it was the rainy season, there was nothing we could do about it.
From the cozy Komodo International Airport, we took a shuttle to Plataran Komodo Resort & Spa, where we would be staying for the tour. As mentioned in the first article, Plataran is an Indonesian hospitality group that operates eight resort hotels alone. Komodo Resort & Spa is one of these hotels.
Located in a cove on Waecicu Beach, a 10-minute drive from the airport, the resort consists of 21 traditionally built villas and residences with a private atmosphere set against a small mountain. In other words, it is a secluded resort where only a few guests are allowed to stay.
Residence 105, the Ecotourism Sanctuary Residence where we stayed this time, is one of the traditional buildings located on the beachfront.
Entering the room through a veranda with a sofa, one finds a spacious 90m2 room for two people, with thick wooden pillars and beams, and a living room with a king-size bed and a large TV under the high wooden ceiling. The room also has a closet on the side and an amazing bathroom (hard to convey, but see the photo), so it would be a shame to spend the night alone.
Amenities include coffee and tea makers, bottled water, and a water server. You may be saying, “Is that what I should be happy about?” but it is really refreshing to drink a glass of chilled water after coming back from a hot and humid day outdoors. Well, of course, there is a refrigerator, so all you have to do is keep the bottle chilled. Later, I was able to visit other rooms, so I will introduce those as well.
