Japanese Tourists to Thailand Surpass One Million for the First Time in Five Years

On January 24, the Tourism Authority of Thailand held a party in Tokyo titled “Amazing Thailand A Million Thank You Reception” (Celebrating 1 Million Japanese Visiting Thailand in 2024, New Year Thank You Evening).

At the same time, Thailand welcomed 36 million foreign tourists and, for the first time in five years, more than 1 million Japanese tourists, ranking 8th and exceeding the target of 887,000,” he said, expressing his gratitude to all concerned and his hopes for the further development of the partnership between the two countries.

The next speaker was Mr. Pattaraanon Nachenmai, Vice President, Tourism Authority of Thailand, in charge of international marketing for the Asia South Pacific region. Mr. Pattaraanon Nachenmai, who will continue to serve as Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand Tokyo Office until 2019, expressed his pleasure at the reunion with Japanese participants and revealed that the government has designated 2025 as the “Amazing Thailand Grand Tourism & Sports Year” and plans to promote two-way exchanges in the areas of Thai cuisine, lifestyle and culture, arts, and sports. The government has also announced its policy to promote interactive exchanges in the areas of Thai cuisine, lifestyle and culture, arts, and sports.

Citing the figure of 1.8 million Japanese visiting Thailand in 2019, he said with a smile, “I look forward to the day when we can celebrate 2 million in the near future.
