Impression of the place I stayed The place is located in the back from the national highway, with the sea in front and mountains behind, making it very private. There are houses nearby, but it does not seem as if there are always people around. On the day of the interview, I was the only visitor, and the only sounds I could hear were the waves and the wind. The environment is quite relaxing, but the winter sea is very windy and I felt quite cold when I was outside, so I quickly took refuge in my car. After that, we used a cassette gas stove outside to boil water, but the strong wind and low temperatures made it difficult to heat the water with a household cassette gas stove. So we brought along a spare cassette gas stove for outdoor use, which is resistant to low temperatures. We did our grocery shopping at a supermarket near the end of the Izu Jukan Expressway, so there should be no problem with shopping in the neighborhood of the RV park or in the town of Shimoda. Also, there is a fire station on the way to Shimoda and the park, so in case of injury or sudden illness, an ambulance would be there relatively quickly. If the illness is minor, the hospital in Shimoda can take care of it, but if it is serious, the patient will have to go to a larger hospital in Izu-no-kuni City. There are no lights around the building, so it is dark at night, but the lights on the deck are bright enough to illuminate the area, so there is no inconvenience. It is also convenient that the lights in the restroom building turn on when someone approaches. However, the light does not brighten up to the inside of the private rooms, so you should check the location of the light switch during the daytime. And because there is no light on the ocean side, stars can be seen well on a cloudless night. I took pictures of the starry sky again, so please take a look at the photos. The horizon at night is much darker than it appears to the naked eye, but the same shot taken at another location would not have captured the same amount of stars. The location of the site is such that there is no ambient noise from people’s lives, but the waves were still high and the sound of the waves was loud because the wind had not died down even after nightfall. However, once inside the car, the sound was not bothersome even at bedtime, so I had no complaints about the sound. The sea is said to be calmer in spring, so if you want to relax and enjoy the view of the sea, spring may be the best season to do so. However, the geographical location of the site means that the sun shines continuously, so if you want to avoid the sun, it would be better to prepare a tarp or shelter to protect you from the sun while allowing the wind to blow through. RV parks are usually considered a stopover during a trip, but I felt that RV Park Akoura could be chosen as a destination because of its attractive location and excellent facilities. Besides, if you stay at the tip of Izu, you can return home on the day of departure while touring the various parts of Izu in order, so you can plan many attractions. In fact, I stopped at Nishiura in Nishi Izu, a place where oranges are grown extensively, and bought some oranges at a direct-sale shop. Even with such a side trip, I would still arrive in Tokyo in the evening, so I think it is a good idea to make a trip with RV Park Akoura as a centerpiece.
