JAL will sell Kanosuke HIOKI POT STILL 2024 LIMITED EDITION and Single Malt Kanosuke on international flights as the sixth in its effort to introduce Japanese craft whiskey to the world.
Kanosuke HIOKI POT STILL 2024 LIMITED EDITION is the first limited edition derived from the pot still whiskey “Kanosuke HIOKI POT STILL,” which is made at the Hioki distillery and stored in barrels at the Kanosuke distillery. It is said to have a bitterness and sweetness that sets it apart from the standard product.
Sales are available to international first and business class passengers on flights departing between February 1 and 28 (reservation started on January 25) and between March 1 and 31 (reservation started on February 25). Reservations can be made through the in-flight pre-order service, priced at 15,000 yen.
Single Malt Kanosuke is made by aging the original sake, which is made in three pot stills, in American white oak litchi casks used for barrel-stored shochu. It is said to have a sweet aroma like honey and lemon tea, a spicy flavor reminiscent of nikki and ginger, and a subtle smokiness.
The sale is open to all international passengers (all classes) on flights departing between February 1 and March 31. The price is 9,000 yen.
Single malt Kanosuke will also be offered at JAL’s SALON in the international JAL first class lounge at Haneda and Narita, and in international first class and business class (excluding Korean routes).
