JICA Vice President Katsura Miyazaki met with Vice Chairman of the Libyan Summit Council Rafie at JICA Headquarters on January 26.
At the beginning of the meeting, Vice President Miyazaki welcomed the delegation to JICA and expressed his recognition of the importance of Libya’s stability to the stability of the region and his desire to consider cooperation for further development of Libya in anticipation of this summer’s TICAD 9.
In response, Mr. Rafie, Vice Chairman of the Summit Council, explained the efforts of the Libyan Peace Institute, which was established by the Libyan Summit Council for the purpose of peacebuilding and national reconciliation in Libya, and expressed his hope that JICA would support the Institute for peace and stability in Libya through national reconciliation.
In addition, Vice Chair Rafie and Vice Chair Miyazaki exchanged views on possible future cooperation and confirmed that they will study the possibility together with the Japanese Embassy, which was reopened in Libya last year.
