Tokyo Metro is inviting supportive buyers for its second upcycling project, work caps utilizing technical work clothes, on the crowdfunding site “CAMPFIRE”. Priced at 12,000 yen each.
The application period is from January 31 to March 31, and the All-or-Nothing method is used to deliver returns (products) only if the target sales total of 100 units is achieved during the period.
The work caps are based on the motif of the “old work caps” from the Eidan Subway era, and are sewn one by one by craftsmen who are currently in charge of cap production. Metal buttons and name tags from transportation uniforms that were scheduled to be discarded are also incorporated.
The lineup includes two types, A (basic) and B (casual), with 125 each (250 total).
Design A uses sewing threads of the same color, and embroidery of metro-colored sewing threads with small holes (eyelets) for threading laces, just as on actual work caps. Design B uses white sewing thread for a more casual look.
Available in two sizes, M (58 cm) and L (61 cm) for adults, both sizes can be adjusted up to ±2 cm with an adjuster.
