Metropolitan Intercity Railway will implement a timetable revision of the Tsukuba Express on March 15.
In addition to increasing the number of trains during the weekday morning and evening rush hours, the number, type, and interval of trains during the morning hours on Saturdays and holidays will be optimized.
For weekday morning rush hour up trains, one more regular train will run between Yashio and Akihabara during the peak congestion hour (7:29 to 8:29).
For weekday evening rush hour down trains, the 17:27 regular train to Moriya will be replaced by the 18:13 regular train to Tsukuba, and one more commuter rapid train will depart from Akihabara. As a result, the number of 18:00 trains departing from Akihabara will increase from 14 to 16.
On Saturdays and holidays, the number of up trains arriving at Kitasenju between 6:00 and 9:00 a.m. will be optimized, and the schedule will be changed to a 30-minute headway pattern schedule mainly between 7:00 and 9:00 a.m. The number of regular trains between Akihabara and Moriya will be increased by one up and one down, and the number of rapid trains from Tsukuba to Akihabara will be increased by one up. In addition, the operation time of the first regular train from Yashio to Akihabara will be changed from 7:40 a.m. to 8:08 a.m.
