JICA President Akihiko Tanaka met with Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema in Tokyo on February 7.
At the beginning of this meeting, the second since their meeting in Zambia last June, President Hichilema expressed his pleasure at meeting again with President Tanaka and his gratitude for JICA’s cooperation in Zambia.
In response, President Tanaka expressed his recognition that Zambia is an important country for peace, stability, and economic development not only in Zambia but also in the Southern African region, and that he would like to consider cooperation with a view to further development of the country in light of TICAD 9 this summer.
In addition, President Hichilema and President Tanaka exchanged views on future cooperation in a wide range of areas, including infrastructure and other environmental improvements to promote investment, strengthening business ties, and climate change measures.
