It is a unique space that visually incorporates the vibrant Osaka of today, Osaka’s traditions, and the evolving city of Osaka into its design.
The three new hotels, Garner Hotel Osaka Honmachi Station with a “present” theme, Garner Hotel Osaka Honmachi Midosuji with a “past” theme, and Garner Hotel Osaka Honmachi Kitasemba with a “future” theme, each represent a different approach to the past, present, and future Osaka based on the common design concept of “Timeless Osaka”. The three hotels, Garner Hotel Osaka Honmachi Midosuji with the theme of “Past” and Garner Hotel Osaka Honmachi Kita Senba with the theme of “Future,” express Osaka of the past, present and future with different approaches based on the common design concept “Timeless Osaka.
Garner is a midscale brand by IHG Hotels & Resorts. The company claims to offer a comfortable stay at an affordable price point as a base hotel for travelers.
Guests have already been able to stay at the hotel since January 16 this year, and an opening ceremony was held at the Garner Hotel Osaka Honmachi Station on February 6. It is unusual for three new hotels to open in the same area at the same time, and it is a glimpse of IHG Group’s aggressive stance toward the Osaka-Kansai Expo, which is scheduled to open in April.

This time we looked at the Garner Hotel Osaka Honmachi Station, the closest of the three newly opened hotels to Honmachi Station.
Passing through the entrance, a bright and clean lobby appears. There will be a manned check-in counter and an automated check-in terminal next to it. In the back is an open space called the Social Hub, which is available 24 hours a day and has a free café corner. You can freely use it to work or communicate with your friends at any time you like.
The marketplace offers snacks, drinks, and other refreshments, and is also available 24 hours a day. On the day I stayed at the hotel, many people were working on their computers or chatting with friends, spending their time as they pleased.
There are four room types: wheelchair accessible rooms (one at each property), double rooms, twin rooms, and queen rooms. Only the Garner Hotel Osaka Honmachi Station offers queen rooms, while the other two hotels offer three types of rooms, including accessible rooms.
This time, we stayed in a twin room, which is the largest room in each facility. At Garner Hotel Osaka Honmachi Station, the walls of each room have Midosuji Avenue, Osaka Castle, and Dotonbori painted randomly on them, allowing guests to enjoy the city of Osaka through pictures.
The rooms themselves are of a very common construction, and each room has a common water supply.
Although the rooms did not have many special features that should be noted, there were many small touches. For example, the space under the bed can be used to store a large suitcase.
Recently, gadgets that require recharging have become indispensable personal items, and the number of electrical outlets in the rooms is sufficient to meet the need. However, some people may need more than enough, so they may need to prepare their own power outlets. After staying one night, I did not feel any inconvenience.
While many hotels specializing in overnight stays these days do not have restaurants or other eating and drinking establishments, the location of Honmachi offers many dining options. Also, since the hotel is close to the station, you can start moving to your next destination immediately after checking out.
While hotel prices are rising across the board in central Tokyo and elsewhere, we appreciate the fact that we can stay in the center of the city with easy access to both Osaka Minami and the north for around 15,000 yen (one room per night for two persons). We felt that this hotel meets our needs as a base for a stay and a comfortable place to stay, without demanding excessive services from the hotel.
