Booking.com released its list of the 10 “Coziest Cities in Japan” on February 17.
Cities will be selected based on the percentage of the number of Traveller Review Award 2025 winners, and must have at least 50 eligible lodging establishments.
The 10 most popular destinations included places surrounded by nature, such as Yakushima (Kagoshima), Amami (Kagoshima), and Lake Fuji-Kawaguchiko (Yamanashi). It was found that people prefer places where they can enjoy the beauty of nature and outdoor activities. Popular hot spring resorts such as Nozawa Onsen (Nagano) and Yufu (Oita) also made the list.
