The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), in cooperation with the Japan Association for the International Exposition, 2025 (hereinafter referred to as “Expo Association”), launched a country-specific training program “Capacity Building for Organizing Expositions and International Conferences through Expo ’70 Osaka/Kansai” on February 17.
The purpose of this training program is to accept trainees from seven developing countries*, to acquire know-how on preparation and planning for holding international conferences and events, etc., and to develop human resources who will play a central role when their countries hold international conferences, etc. in the future. The purpose of this program is to develop human resources who will play a central role in organizing international conferences and events in the future.
During the Osaka-Kansai Expo, the trainees will learn about the practicalities of planning and operation, such as know-how on how to treat dignitaries at the Expo site and public relations activities, as well as learn how tourism is being promoted in each region through visits to model Expo related courses jointly developed by the Japan Tourism Agency and Japan National Tourism Organization (hereafter, JNTO). The participants will also participate in the “Inochi Council” project hosted by Osaka University, where they will learn about measures to achieve the SDGs.
Training period: Wednesday, February 5, 2025 – Friday, October 31, 2025
*Exposition Association acceptance is scheduled from Monday, February 17, 2025 to mid-October 2025.
*Training at the Japan Tourism Agency and JNTO is scheduled for June 2025.
(*) Trainees are dispatched from seven countries: Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia, the Philippines, and Thailand.
