The JR West Japan Group announced that Umekita Green Place, a commercial facility being developed on the ground level of JR Osaka Station (Umekita area), will open on March 21. In addition, a new pedestrian deck connecting Innogate Osaka and the Umekita Phase 2 area (2nd floor of the South Building of Grand Green Osaka) will open on April 11.
Since the start of the Osaka Station Umekita Underground Exit and West Exit (March 2023), the group has opened JP Tower Osaka (July 2024), Innogate Osaka (July 2024), and Eki Marché Osaka Umesto (part of December 2024) in succession, and opened the Umekita 2nd Phase area in advance (September 2024). In the Umekita Green Place area, a pedestrian deck connecting the Umekita Green Place to the existing Osaka Station area was opened in September 2024. The full opening of Umekita Green Place and the opening of the new pedestrian deck will further enhance the circulation of the west side of JR Osaka Station (Umekita area).
At Umekita Green Place, 20 stores will open, including restaurants, cafes, lifestyle, fashion, and convenience stores. In addition, a lush green plaza will be created for resting and meeting, and interactive art works utilizing XR and other technologies will be developed. In addition, the “Umekita Green Place Bus Parking Lot” will begin to be shared at the plaza in front of the station (cab and general passenger parking lots are already in operation).
