JR West’s smartphone application “WESTER” has begun offering push notifications of operation information and a feature that allows users to check their WESTER points scheduled to expire.
The “Operation Information Push Notification” function allows users to register frequently used stations in “My Stations” and be notified when delays or suspended operations affect the registered stations. The delay time can also be reflected in the timetable of each station, allowing users to check the real-time operation status. The service will initially be offered for the JR Kobe and Kyoto Lines, and will be expanded to other areas in the future.
Until now, the WESTER application did not have a function to notify users when there was a delay in operation, so users had to check the operation information themselves, and there was no way to check station timetables and operation information at once.
In addition, a function to display the number of WESTER points scheduled to expire has been implemented on the points screen of the application; since a portion of WESTER points (basic) expire on March 31 of each year, this function allows users to check the expiration date and the number of points remaining to prevent forgetting to use them.
