Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) will open the MOL Museum Funeshiru in the Asia and Pacific Trade Center (ATC) (2-1-10 Nanko-Kita, Suminoe-ku, Osaka City, Osaka Prefecture) adjacent to the Sunflower Terminal on July 19.

The concept of the museum is “a museum to encounter marine transport and the MOL Group. Visitors can enjoy learning about the scale of shipping, the role of ships in our daily lives, shipping jobs, and the future of shipping. There will also be a café offering original menus and a museum store. The facility is approximately 500 m2 in size (excluding the backyard).

The “Understanding Maritime Transport” corner will feature a 30-meter-wide theater and a model of an actual MOL Group ship to introduce visitors to the maritime transport that supports our daily lives. An interactive artwork will also be presented, in which pictures of ships drawn by visitors will move on a canvas on the wall.

In the “Know Your Job” corner, models and panels introduce the work of navigators, engineers, and other maritime professionals. Visitors can also try out Japan’s first all-round shiphandling simulator for the general public and experience an immersive shiphandling experience on a 310-degree screen.

The “Learn about the MOL Group” corner introduces the history and current activities of the MOL Group. Visitors can also enjoy a commemorative photo wearing a seafarer’s uniform.

The café/shop attached to the museum is open to visitors free of charge. The shop sells meals and beverages such as original curry under the theme of “Try Food Carried Across the Sea,” as well as museum goods and Mitsui O.S.K. Lines merchandise.

Admission fees, hours of operation, days closed, and other details will be announced at a later date. An official museum website is also scheduled to be launched.
