Fukuoka International Airport has announced that a complex directly connected to the domestic terminal will open in the summer of 2027. The 11-story building with a total floor area of 40,000m2 will house commercial facilities, a hotel, a bus terminal, and other functions. Construction will begin in April, expanding and renovating the existing domestic terminal building (128,000m2 with two basement floors to five stories above ground).

When the complex opens, the number of stores in the area in front of the security checkpoint, which can be used by people who do not fly, will increase by approximately 180 stores to a total of approximately 270 stores, making it one of the largest at airports in Japan. The outlet will be called “Traveling Airport. The goal is to create an extraordinary space where people can travel locally (Fukuoka/Kyushu) and globally (Asia) without leaving the airport.

The first floor will be connected to the arrival floor and will feature a lineup of daily-use stores, including travel goods stores, service stores, and supermarkets to assist travelers. In addition, a new bus terminal has been constructed to serve as a boarding and disembarking point for local and express buses. In addition, a dedicated connecting bus route will be constructed to reduce travel time between the domestic and international terminals to approximately 5 minutes (boarding and waiting areas will be located on the second floor).

The 2nd floor, connected to the departure floor, will offer a selection of food and souvenirs from Fukuoka, Kyushu, and other regions of Japan. A “gourmet food zone” will also be newly established where visitors can taste freshly prepared food.

The third floor is a lively floor where visitors of all ages and nationalities can enjoy the sundry stores and hands-on content of Japanese cultural characters.

The 4th floor is one of the largest Asian food floors in Japan. More than 40 restaurants, food courts, and side streets are set up in this exotic space of approximately 8,000 m2. The lineup offers a variety of Asian cuisine that is new no matter how many times you visit.

On the 5th to 11th floors, the Nishi-Nippon Railroad Group’s first hotel directly connected to the airport, Solaria Nishitetsu Hotel Fukuoka Airport (tentative name), will take up occupancy. The hotel will have a total of 165 guest rooms, a bathhouse, sauna, and fitness center.
