Ekiben (boxed lunch) shops outside the ticket gates and ekisoba (buckwheat noodle) shops inside the ticket gates” at Osaka Station. Once again, the reason for the new establishment.

Visit to Ekiben store and Ekisoba store at Osaka Station! Actual food report I immediately headed to Osaka Station to visit the site. On March 7, the opening day of the traveling bento shop, I visited …… at 11:00 a.m. There were always three or four groups of people in the crowd, and six bento items already had “sold out” tags on them. Suiryoken’s “Hakkaku bento” has been a long seller since 1975. Even today, there are many people who say, “When I think of an ekiben at Osaka Station, this is the one I want! According to the store staff, those without tickets used to go to the Suiryoken store in the Umeda Hanshin (Hanshin Department Store) to purchase the octagonal bento. However, since it takes more time to travel up and down the underpass and overpass than the distance, many people wanted to purchase the lunchboxes outside the ticket gates. Hakkaku bento and train lunchboxes, which follow the makunouchi bento style with many different kinds of side dishes, are a definite classic to buy. The next day, we visited one hour after the opening and successfully purchased the “Osaka Bento” and “Osaka Charcoal Grilled Meat Bento,” which were developed to coincide with the new opening of the traveling bento. The “Osaka Bento,” with its innovative packaging of station name markers in homage to the Japan National Railways era, including the actual neighboring stations (Tsukamoto and Shin-Osaka), is a good combination of rice with konnyaku and sinewy meat, and four large octopus balls. It comes with a sauce, so you can dip it in the sauce and eat it as you like. The “Osaka Charcoal Grill Bento” is an interesting combination of dark seasoning, tender meat, and chewy hormone. I entered “Menke Osaka” before 9:00 a.m. on March 10, the day it opened, and while it was fairly empty at 7:00 and 8:00 a.m., there were many people looking on from afar, indicating that the restaurant is well known. The menu is the same as those at Kyobashi and Tennoji stations, as well as at Menke Osaka Midou outside the Osaka Station ticket gates, and offers Japanese-style soba noodles with soft noodles and orthodox broth for around 500 yen. At a glance, the restaurant has about 15 seats, including 4 standing-eating spaces. As mentioned earlier, it is located on the transit line to the Osaka Loop Line, making it a good location for a quick bite and a quick walk away. Another soba restaurant, Mentei Shotsuru, is located in a rather confusing location on the mezzanine floor, so Mentei Mentei may be busier than Mentei. With the construction rush in Osaka for the Kansai and Osaka Expo, there are concerns about price hikes in food and beverage services. In this day and age, ekisoba noodle stores that offer easy one-coin meals will continue to be useful in the future.
