Hanshin Electric Railway Co., Ltd. announced that it will introduce a new express train, the 3000 Series, in the spring of 2027 to begin seat reservation service as the company celebrates its 120th anniversary on April 12.
The new express train, Series 3000, is designed to be a train that is close to “Taisetsu,” or “Taisetsu” in Japanese, with various innovations and the latest technology to provide even more reliable and comfortable passenger service.
One of the six cars in each train will be equipped with specifications that enable the company to offer seat reservation service for the first time, and electric door-shutting devices and inverter air-conditioning systems will be adopted for the first time. In addition, the SynTRACS synchronous reluctance motor system will be used in the drive system to reduce power consumption by approximately 60%.
The concept of the train is “Hang”, which means “to hang”, “to run”, “to fly”, and “to bridge”, which are reflected in the design and engineering to realize the thoroughgoing customer orientation (Hanshin-ness) that has been cultivated since the start of the company’s business.
The exterior color will be “Re Vermilion,” which inherits the image of the “red body cars” that have been popular for express trains for many years. Existing express trains will also be successively redesigned using the same color scheme.
