JR East Cross Station Foods Company and Orange Page will release “Suica’s Penguin Lunchbox,” a new specialty of Omiya, the railroad town. It will be available at Omiya Station from March 16, and at Tokyo, Shinjuku, and Ueno Stations from March 17.
This is the fifth “Suica no Penguin Bento” produced by Orange Page. This time, in conjunction with the 140th anniversary of the opening of Omiya Station, it was developed jointly with employees of the JR East Omiya Control Center to create a new specialty bento for “Railway Town Omiya.
The contents include “Hachikuma Rice,” which is rice with a fried egg on top, and “Omiya Neapolitan,” a local delicacy inspired by “crew bribery rice,” as well as fried fish sausage isobe-age, a favorite of the Suica penguins.
As an added bonus, it comes with a mini acrylic stand depicting Suica penguins at work on the railroad. There are a total of five different patterns (four regular + one secret), one of which is included at random.
