The Tokyo Metropolitan Government will hold “Roof Park Fes & Walk,” an event to experience the “pedestrian space of the future” on the Tokyo Expressway (KK Line) from April 18 to 19.
The Metropolitan Expressway plans to develop a new central Tokyo ring route, the Shin-Kyobashi Connecting Road, in conjunction with the undergrounding of the Nihonbashi section. As a result, the KK line will be discontinued as of April 20.
After the closure of the corridor, the company plans to proceed with the “Tokyo Sky Corridor” project to revitalize the area into a pedestrian-centered space.
Roof Park Fes&Walk will offer four events between Shimbashi and Kyobashi as an early experience of the KK Line after redevelopment. All of these events will charge a participation fee, and tickets will be available from 4:00 p.m. on March 21 (only special tours will go on sale on March 28).
