Hotel New Akao (1993-65, Atami, Shizuoka, Japan) opened a candy corner “Amanoya New Akao Store” in Nigiwai Yokocho on the first floor of Ocean Wing, which will be open until June 30.
The event commemorates the 100th anniversary of the Showa Era in 2025, and was supervised by Amanoya Shigeta Shoten, a Shizuoka candy shop founded in the first year of the Showa Era (1926). The store offers about 150 kinds of products, including nostalgic old-fashioned dagashi and toys, as well as modern trendy dagashi, which can be enjoyed by children and adults alike as they return to their childhood memories.
The hotel stands on the quay of the scenic “Nishikigaura” and consists of two buildings, Ocean Wing and Horizon Wing, with ocean views for all 350 guests. In addition to “Nigiwai Yokocho” where guests can enjoy games and corner games in the Showa-era retro building, the hotel has “Main Dining Nishiki” where guests can enjoy Izu seafood gourmet and Japanese and Western buffets, and “Sparium Nishiki”, a large hot spring bath with a famous infinity open-air bath.
