Osaka Metro (Osaka City Rapid Transit) will revise its Chuo Line schedule from April 2 in preparation for the Osaka-Kansai Expo. The revision will be in effect from April 2 to October 13.

The main revisions include, first, unifying the weekday, weekend, and holiday timetables and operating the same schedule regardless of the day of the week.

In addition, the number of trains on the Chuo Line will be increased from 23 to 33 trains, the maximum speed between Osaka Port Station and Yumeshima Station will be increased to 95 km/h, and the number of trains will be increased to a maximum of 24 per hour (every 2 minutes 30 seconds).

The number of trains between Benten-cho Station and Asashiobashi Station will be increased from 177 up and 181 down on weekdays and 151 up and 155 down on weekends and holidays before the revision to 376 up and 379 down on both weekdays and weekends after the revision, more than doubling the number of trains operated before the revision.

On weekdays from mid-April to mid-July, children’s trains (children-only trains and priority trains) will be operated for groups and leaders of one-day educational tours. The number of trains will be adjusted according to the number of children and students who visit.

The children-only train runs from Morinomiya Station to Yumeshima Station, stopping at only three stations: Morinomiya, Benten-cho, and Yumeshima. The front cars (up to 4 cars) are reserved for children, while the other rear cars are open to general passengers. The destination on the front and sides of the cars is indicated as “Forwarding.

The children’s priority train runs from Nagata Station to Yumeshima Station, stopping at each station in the section. Since children and students will be boarding from each station, general users are asked to refrain from boarding. The destination of the train will be indicated as “Temporary” on the front and side of the train.

In addition, only the last train departing from Yumeshima Station will change its departure time from 24:13 to 24:20. For more details, please check the official website.
