Nakagawa Masashichi Shoten will open its largest flagship store in Kyushu, “Nakagawa Masashichi Shoten Fukuoka Tenjin Store,” on the third floor of the One Fukuoka Building (1-11-1 Tenjin, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture), a large building complex opening on April 24.

The Fukuoka Tenjin store is based on the concept of “Kyushu’s touch, Japan’s lifestyle,” and features a special space where visitors can enjoy carefully selected foods from all over Kyushu and vessels from all over Japan, as well as limited edition products of Kyushu and Hakata specialties and new hemp fabrics.

In the center of the store, under the theme of “Kyushu’s Food, Nation’s Vessels,” there is a permanent space featuring food products unique to Kyushu combined with “crafts used” by artisans from various regions of Japan. In addition to noodle bowls and cutlery, the store also offers tea leaves, confectionery, and tea utensils, as well as shochu (Japanese liquor) and drinking vessels.

In addition to Maruhiro “mandala RAMEN BOWL limited” (from 14,300 yen), Ueide Choemon Kiln “Yunomi Fuefuki Shikayose” (7,700 yen), Yoshida Chikumono “Bamboo Tea Strainer” (16,500 yen), Hakata Fukin (550 yen each) as limited edition souvenirs of Hakata’s specialties, Also on sale are limited-edition Hakata specialty souvenirs, such as the Hakata Fukin (550 yen each), Niwaka Akita Daruma-mikuji (550 yen each), and the Matsuri Danugui Hakata Gion Yamakasa (1,760 yen).

Products utilizing Nakagawa Masashichi Shoten’s roots in “handspun hand-woven hemp” will also be available exclusively at the flagship store. Based on the origami paper technique, the lineup includes a foldable hexagonal storage box (from 5,500 yen), a tissue case (7,700 yen), a business card case (4,620 yen), and other hemp fabric series products.

The store’s interior uses craft techniques from all over Kyushu, with walls utilizing Isahaya stone from Nagasaki Prefecture and ceramic pieces from Hasamiyaki pottery, and pendant lights designed based on Fukuoka Prefecture’s Yame chochin lanterns, all of which give the store an appealing craft appeal.

In addition, workshops based on the concept of a “housekeeping school” will be held on a regular basis. Participants can try their hand at making shimenawa (sacred straw rope), dyeing kitchen cloths, and metal-joining, and enjoy learning about how to make things that can be used for a long time. The cost is 3,000 to 5,000 yen per workshop, and reservations can be made through the website.

In addition to the opening of “Nakagawa Masashichi Shoten Fukuoka Tenjin Store,” a pop-up store will open for a limited time on the third floor of ONE FUKUOKA BLDG. next to the escalator. The theme and lineup will change every month from May 2 to October, and from June 11 to July 1, a traveling exhibition “Kashiyuka Shop Real Store” will be held with Perfume’s Kashiyuka as the store owner.
