Grand Green Osaka opens its “South Wing” today. New Landmark Brings More Vitality to Umeda

Posted on 2025-03-212025-04-17 by Editor in Chief

On March 21, the nine JVs of the Gran Green Osaka developers, led by Mitsubishi Estate, opened the South Building (5-54 Ohuka-cho, Kita-ku, Osaka City, Osaka Prefecture) in the South Urban Area of Gran Green Osaka, the second phase of the Umekita district.

The South Tower is directly connected to the underground exit of JR Osaka Station, and consists of three buildings: Gate Tower (3 below ground to 18 above ground), Park Tower (3 below ground to 39 above ground), and South Tower (3 below ground to 28 above ground).

The basement and lower floors will mainly be used as commercial floors, including the new “Time Out Market OSAKA” (Park Tower, B1F), a large-scale food court with over 3,000m2 of floor space, and the “Umekita Onsen Ren Wellbeing Park” (Gate Tower, 3-4F), a spa and wellness facility with a large natural hot spring bath, sauna, infinity heated pool, and other amenities. The new facility will also feature a total of 55 stores, including Japan’s first and Kansai’s first fashion, lifestyle, restaurant, and service stores.

In addition, offices will occupy the middle floors, and luxury hotels “Waldorf Astoria Osaka” and “Hotel Hankyu Grand Lespire Osaka” will occupy the upper floors.

Following the opening of the North Building (3 floors below ground to 26 floors above ground) in the North District in September last year, today’s opening of the South Building will mark the completion of approximately 70% of Grand Green Osaka. The entire town will open in fiscal 2027.

In conjunction with the opening of the South Wing, the opening event “Things to Do at GRAND GREEN OSAKA” will be held from today, March 21 to April 6. In addition to hands-on events at Rote Heart Square Umekita, the stage of GRAND GREEN OSAKA, an outdoor movie theater, a marché, and craft beer brewed exclusively on the theme of cherry blossoms, each tenant will be offering special promotions.
