NEXCO East Japan, NEXCO Central Japan, NEXCO West Japan, JB Honsha and Japan Road Traffic Information Center have announced traffic congestion forecasts for the Golden Week period (April 25 to May 6). They are urging drivers to use the route on different days and at different times of the day, and to spread out the use of the route.

The number of traffic jams is expected to increase to 158 (+19) for downlink traffic and 220 (+30) for uplink traffic over 10 km, compared to the actual results in 2024, mostly on May 3-4 for downlink traffic and May 3-5 for uplink traffic. Of these, particularly long traffic jams of 30 km or longer are forecast to be 9 (+2) downstream and 9 (-3) upstream.

Traffic peaks at 45 km maximum at the Sagami Lake IC (down) on the Chuo Expressway, 40 km maximum near Hanyu PA (down) on the Tohoku Expressway and Sakado Nishi SIC (up) on the Kan-etsu Expressway, and 35 km maximum near Tosu JCT (down) on the Kyushu Expressway and Awaji IC (up) on the Kobe Awaji-Naruto Expressway.

Please note that the holiday discount will not be applied during this period to ease traffic congestion.
