Kenichi Nonani, General Manager of JATA’s Domestic Travel Promotion Department, who explained the initiative, said, “By distributing demand on weekends and consecutive holidays to weekdays, not only does it help alleviate congestion at tourist destinations, but it also allows the host to continuously secure employees.
For example, in lodging facilities, rates are higher on Saturdays and the first day of consecutive holidays. If demand is spread out over weekdays, more rooms can be sold at lower prices,” he opined.
He further explained, “While 39 prefectures are promoting rest and ler-cation, we would like to inform companies and schools about the promotion of weekday leave by continuing the campaign.
