Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route, commemorating the debut of the newly introduced “Tateyama Tunnel Electric Bus” from June.

Posted on 2025-03-272025-04-24 by Editor in Chief

Tateyama Kurobe Kanko will hold a series of events to celebrate the debut of the Tateyama Tunnel Electric Bus on the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route, a mountain tourism route connecting Toyama and Nagano prefectures, starting June 1.

On the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route, visitors can take six different vehicles, including cable cars, buses, and ropeways, between Tateyama Station (Toyama Prefecture) and Ogisawa (Nagano Prefecture) to enjoy the spectacular views of the 3000-meter-high Tateyama Mountain Range and Kurobe Dam.

The Tateyama Tunnel Electric Bus is a new vehicle that will replace the Tateyama Tunnel Trolleybus, which was retired last fall, with a total of eight units scheduled to be in operation from April 15 (between Murodo and Daikanbo). The new buses will debut with the head mark of the trolley buses, and will also make use of the “Tsusho” (returnable slip) used for the diesel buses, with the hope that the history of the buses will be passed on to the next generation.

From June 1 to 30, visitors will receive an “Electric Bus Commemorative Card” to commemorate their ride; from June 27 to July 1, a special exhibition of the Toro Bus and Electric Bus and an explanation of the vehicles by a mechanic will be held. In addition, the “Station Closest to the Stars” stamp will be revived and distributed.

From June 1 to August 31, a panel exhibition introducing scenes from the movie and the actual landscape of Tateyama Kurobe will be held at the Murodo Terminal. From June 1 to August 31, a panel exhibition will be held in the Murodo Terminal to introduce scenes from the movie and the actual scenery of Tateyama Kurobe.

The Murodo Terminal store will also sell a limited number of “Wolf Children: Rain and Snow” collaboration design T-shirts starting April 15, 2011, in a limited edition of 1,000. Prices are 5,000 yen for sizes 120 and 140, and 5,500 yen for sizes S, M, L, and LL.

The Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route will be open from April 15 to November 30, 2025. Ride-related events are scheduled to be held from summer to autumn.
