Disaster Situation
The earthquake that struck Myanmar on March 28 killed 1,644 people, injured 3,408, and left 139 missing, according to the country’s state-run media. (As of the evening of March 29)
Dispatch of International Emergency Medical Teams
In response to a request from the Myanmar government, the Japanese government decided on March 31 to dispatch an International Emergency Medical Team, and JICA began preparations for the team’s dispatch. An outline of the team is as follows.
(1) A total of 32 members consisting of registered medical team members and JICA staff
(2) Arranged for departure from Haneda Airport in the early morning of Tuesday, April 2.
(3) Assumed dispatch period is 2 weeks
