I bought an Expo ’70 Commemorative ICOCA! All kinds of goods sold as a set are also delivered with newly taken photos!

Posted on 2025-04-102025-05-15 by Editor in Chief

Store opening period: April 13, 2025 – October 13, 2025

Hours of operation: 9:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Location: West Gate Marketplace

Store area: 498m2

EXPO2025 Myakmyak [Platypus Ikochan] Original Synthetic Leather Pass Case (JWN/159)

Price: 3200 yen

Commemorative ICOCAs are only sold as a set with goods. However, the total amount of the merchandise and the ICOCA is paid at checkout (the JAN codes are separated). Please note that QR code payment cannot be used for the ICOCA portion (1,000 yen).

The IC cards will not be sold separately, and will not be available at stations on the JR Lines or other locations other than the official stores at the Expo site (as of April 9).

An online store (from the time of visit to 6:59 pm the following day) is available exclusively for visitors to the store, but this store also does not offer goods with commemorative ICOCAs.

In other words, the Expo ’70 Commemorative ICOCA can only be purchased here.

According to a representative of JR West Daily Service Net, this may be the last time the commemorative ICOCA will be sold as an IC card, as the JR West Group is promoting the use of mobile ICOCA (smartphone application).

During the test run, the most popular items were the previously announced plush station attendant set and the synthetic leather passcases in Expo-like colors. Wooden passcases were chosen by those who prefer simple designs and those who find it difficult to use flashy colors at work.

The commemorative design is cuter than the regular ICOCA (no name), but the “only here” version is more cute.

Personally, I recommend the glass frames and plush toys for viewing and preservation, and the passcases for those who want to actually use them while enjoying the Expo atmosphere. The price of the merchandise includes the ICOCA charge amount and a deposit totaling 1,000 yen, so you can actually buy a commemorative ICOCA for 1,650 yen and up.
