The Sapporo Municipal Subway will conduct a demonstration test of a ride service using credit cards and other touch-sensitive payment methods at all 49 stations from April 26.
In the experiment, touch-sensitive payment readers will be installed at some automatic ticket gates at all 49 stations on the Sapporo Municipal Subway Nanboku, Tozai, and Toho Lines. Passengers can board the train by holding a touch-sensitive card (credit, debit, or prepaid) or a smartphone with the card installed over the reader. From the viewpoint of barrier-free access, one reader will be installed at each ticket gate, mainly at wide ticket gates.
Brands supported are Visa, Mastercard, JCB, American Express, Diners Club, Discover, and UnionPay. All fares are standard adult fares, and various discounts such as child fares and transfer discounts do not apply. The usage history can be checked by registering as a member of “Q-move”.
