The “Official Stamp Rally” is a popular project in which many visitors have participated at international expositions, including the 1970 Osaka Expo and the 2005 EXPO 2005 Aichi, Japan. At this year’s Expo, more than 200 stamps will be placed at various pavilions and facilities.
On April 13, the Osaka-Kansai Expo (EXPO 2025) will open in Yumeshima, Osaka. Here we report on scenes from the media day held prior to the opening of the Expo.
Participation in the stamp rally is free of charge (a separate ticket is required to enter the venue). Official stores at the venue (3 stores except JR West Group, as of April 9) and online are selling official stamp passports (stamp books) and exclusive cases and straps.
Overseas Pavilion, Domestic Pavilion, Signature Pavilion, Future City, Future Life Village, etc. *Pavilion reservations are required for some stamps.
Stores (planned)
Official stores in the Expo site (4 locations in the Expo site)
Official Store (outside the Expo site)
Official Online Store
According to the person in charge of MARUZEN JUNKUDO, the official store in the venue, East Gate Store, “During the test run, we sold out in one and a half days. Although it was sold only at our store inside the venue during the test run, it sold better than expected”.
The reporter immediately purchased a set of passport, case & strap, and stamped them at several pavilions. First of all, I got a Myakmyak, which is installed at the East and West Gates with a common design.
For early arrivals between the opening of the season and the end of May, the design will be changed at each gate approximately every half month (six designs in total).
The Official Passport has color-coded pages for each zone, facility names and descriptions for some zones, and stamping areas (squares) that are exactly the same size as the stamps. If you visit the museum several times, you can write the date of each stamp on the page to make your visit more memorable.
Of course, you can also stamp on a commercially available notebook or notebook without purchasing an official passport. I tried stamping the same stamp on both the official passport and my personal notebook (A5 size), but I felt more nervous and excited with the official passport, which can only be stamped once per square.
In addition, the four pavilions that we toured with our passports had stamp stands located outside the buildings and near the exits, so we were able to collect the stamps smoothly. However, some pavilions and facilities require advance reservations for pavilions (they are located inside the buildings).
Stamps are available not only at the Expo site, but also in the nine prefectures in the Osaka area (nine stamps in total). We hope you will take the opportunity to visit the Expo and collect “Gyosan” (Kansai dialect for “a lot of stamps”) in each area.
