There are two types of EV buses at the Expo site: “auto-powered” and “auto-driven”. Driving interval is 3-5 minutes

On April 13, the Osaka-Kansai Expo (EXPO 2025) will open in Yumeshima, Osaka. Here we report on scenes from the media day held prior to the opening of the Expo.

The Expo site, which is roughly the size of three Disney parks, is far too large to tour on foot, and although there are personal mobility vehicles for one person, they are limited in number, so the eMover, an electric bus that circulates the site, is recommended for large distances, such as from one end to the other.

There are six stops at the venue, located near the east and west gates and around the perimeter of the ring. Approximately 100 buses will operate clockwise and counterclockwise at these six locations, with the next bus expected to arrive approximately every 3 to 5 minutes.

The fare is 400 yen for a single ride and 1,000 yen for an unlimited one-day pass, which can be purchased through the e METRO app (Android/iOS versions), the Osaka Metro ticket sales page, or at payment terminals at bus stops.

There are two types of e-movers: an “auto-powered bus” that runs while receiving power from a coil embedded in the road (operates from 9:00 to 21:15), and a Level 4 “self-driving bus” that runs without a driver (operates from 9:00 to 16:00; same-day reservations required).
