The Higashi-Kanamachi 1-chome West Urban Area Redevelopment Association and its participating members, Mitsubishi Estate, Mitsubishi Jisho Residence, and Mitsui Fudosan Residential, have decided to name the area “Cross Kanamachi” and the commercial facility “MARK IS Katsushika Kanamachi” for the Higashi-Kanamachi 1-chome West Urban Area Redevelopment Project being promoted on the west side of the north exit of JR Kanamachi Station. The name of the commercial facility is “MARK IS Katsushika Kanamachi.
The Phase I development, consisting mainly of commercial facilities and a driving school, is scheduled to be completed in mid-July 2025, and the Phase II development, consisting of a 40-story high-rise condominium, commercial building, and public facilities, is scheduled to be completed in November 2030.
Cross Kanamachi is named after its location at the intersection of a university, park, train station, and other regional hubs, as an urban hub for multi-generational interaction. This is also the fourth location for Mitsubishi Estate’s flagship brand “MARK IS,” following Shizuoka, Minato Mirai, and Fukuoka Momochi, and the first in Tokyo. As a community-based shopping mall, it will offer convenience and liveliness.
Ito-Yokado Kanamachi Store, the previous owner of the property for 49 years, will be reborn as York Foods MARK IS Katsushika Kanamachi Store and reopen on the first floor. It will handle fresh foods and daily necessities, and promote “local commerce for local consumption” rooted in the local community.
The first floor includes a local sweets store and a drugstore selling daily necessities, the second floor includes “JOSHIN,” a large electronics and toy specialty store, and the third floor includes a food court, the first Sumikko Gurashi Asobi Studio in the Kanto area, Namco’s amusement facility, and a uniform store, etc. On the fourth floor, the Kanamachi Driving School will be relocated and reopened. The fourth floor will feature the relocation and reopening of the Kanamachi Driving School, which offers everything from regular driver’s licenses to training for the elderly.
On the first basement level, the Higashi Kanamachi Underground Bicycle Parking Lot will be developed with 1,200 spaces for regular use and 200 spaces for temporary use, and is scheduled to open on August 1.
