LUMINE has announced the full-scale opening of Newman Takanawa, a commercial facility in Takanawa Gateway City, on September 12, and released a list of stores. The opening will take place on the 1st to 5th floors of the South and North buildings (the lower floors of the two buildings, North and South) and the 28th and 29th floors of LUFTBAUM (the upper floors of the North building), with a total of approximately 180 stores occupying most of Newman Takanawa. Taking advantage of its location adjacent to the Takanawa Gateway Station, this new urban retail facility will be launched with a focus on “living values 100 years from now.
LUFTBAUM is a “villa in the heart of the city” space that fuses plants, sound, and food in an area of approximately 150 m above ground and a total floor space of approximately 8,000 m2. Wolfgang’s Steakhouse, the world’s first high-rise restaurant with a view of the Rainbow Bridge, and Kappo BUTAI, a new business model of Happoen that offers Edo-themed kappo cuisine, will open.
South One floor on the 5th floor will feature “Komorebira,” LUMINE’s first attempt to create a space where adults and children can spend time together. The flagship bookstore “Bunko” (approx. 3,300 m2) will be the core, with a bistro and café by the popular Kobe-based “TOOTH TOOTH”, a photo studio “Kuppography”, and the largest interior goods store in Tokyo, “Nakagawa Masashichi Shoten”.
The “CFCL” apparel store, one of the largest in Tokyo, will launch a new service to collect and repair clothing; the “Takanawa SAUNAS” relaxation facility (scheduled to open in winter 2025) will feature nine saunas and working space; the “CORNER ZERO” future-oriented food market will use ZEROCO, which can keep food fresh for a long time; and the “800°DEGREES TAKANAWA” Lumine-operated pizzeria will use seasonal local ingredients and hold events to interact with producers. (scheduled to open in winter 2025), a future-oriented food market “CORNER ZERO,” and “800°DEGREES TAKANAWA,” a LUMINE-operated pizzeria that uses seasonal local ingredients and holds exchange events with producers, are among the stores that are conscious of sustainability and social connections.
In addition, there are a variety of new business models and high-profile brands, such as “Rigo SPANISH ITALIAN,” a popular restaurant in Hawaii that is making its first appearance in Japan, “BEAMS CULTUART,” a culture transmission base by BEAMS, and “Meidi-ya,” a premium supermarket that stocks a wide selection of gourmet products from around the world. The lineup includes a variety of new business models and high-profile brands.
In addition to these two buildings in the north and south, a third building, MIMURE, is scheduled to open in the spring of 2026, and will eventually house approximately 200 stores.
