APA Group announced that it will increase the number of rooms in its development project in front of JR Sapporo Station (4-16-1 Kita 8-jo Nishi, Kita-ku, Sapporo City, Hokkaido, and other 7 lot numbers) from the originally planned 318 to 500 under the hotel brand and name “APA Hotel & Resort (Sapporo Ekimae)”.
The acquisition of the adjacent land made it possible to construct a 14-story, 500-room facility within a 4-minute walk from the north exit, which will also include a swimming pool and a large public bath. The hotel will also offer a “Yuttari Day Trip Plan” that allows guests to stay in their rooms for the day, and aims to create a facility based on the concept of an “urban resort in front of the station. The facility is scheduled to open in the spring of 2027.
The company also announced plans to acquire a new site (lot number 6-3-1, Kita 6-jo Nishi, Kita-ku, Sapporo, Hokkaido), a five-minute walk from the north exit of JR Sapporo Station, and develop it into an 11-story, 168-room APA Hotel Sapporo Ekimae Nishi. The hotel is scheduled to open in the spring of 2027. The company said that it has decided to develop the two properties near Sapporo Station in anticipation of further demand from the upcoming Hokkaido Shinkansen bullet train service (Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto to Sapporo).
