Delta Air Lines announced on May 20 (local time) that it will reorganize its in-flight product offerings.
The new in-flight products are “Delta Main” (formerly Main Cabin: economy class), “Delta Comfort” (formerly Delta Comfort Plus: spacious economy class), “Delta First” (formerly First Class), “Delta Premium Select” (premium economy) and “Delta One” (Business Class), which will be effective for flights departing on October 1.
Delta Main is also divided into Basic, Classic, and Extra based on service. Basic is the company’s lowest fare and corresponds to the traditional Basic Economy fare class.
With Delta Main Basic, seat assignments are made only after check-in, boarding is limited to Zone 8, no miles or Medallion Qualifying Dollars (MQDs) are earned, and a conversion fee to e-credits is charged for refunds in the event of cancellation.
Classic earns miles (5 miles per dollar, tax not included) and MQDs, converts cancellations to e-credits with no fees, allows same-day standby and seat selection, and offers preferential boarding order to Zone 6 or 7.
With Extra, mileage earning is 7 miles per dollar (excluding taxes and fees), and in the event of cancellation, you will receive a refund based on the method of payment. Same-day standby is available as with Classic, and boarding is available in Zone 5.
In addition, Delta Comfort, Delta Premium Select, and Delta One will also offer two levels of options, Classic and Extra, respectively.
The company’s website and official “Fly Delta” app allow users to check and compare the contents of each fare class.
