Odakyu Hakone, “Night Hydrangea Issue” on mountain tram in early summer. Lighting up starts on June 13.

Posted on 2025-06-072025-06-09 by Editor in Chief

Odakyu Hakone will operate the “Night Ajisai-go” (reserved-seat train) between Hakone-Yumoto and Gora on the Hakone Tozan Railway. The service will run for a total of 17 days (two trains per day) from June 14 to 30.

In early summer, about 7,000 hydrangeas bloom along the train tracks, and the train is commonly known as the “Hydrangea Train. The “Night Hydrangea Train,” which is operated in conjunction with the nighttime illumination of the train, will proceed slowly and stop repeatedly, allowing passengers to enjoy the fantastic sight of hydrangeas illuminated by the light from the comfort of their reserved seats. In addition, this year, the “Allegra-go” will operate on the 10th anniversary of its debut in November 2024.

Seat tickets are available at the tourist information website “Hakone Navi” and cost 500 yen one-way for adults and 250 yen one-way for children. Separate fares are required. Ajisai Train original fan will be offered as a commemorative gift.

The hydrangea lighting along the line will be held from June 13 (6:30pm to 10pm each day). You can also view the lights from regular trains.

Isshikido Tea House (1300 Gora, Hakone-cho, Ashigarashita-gun, Kanagawa Prefecture) in Hakone Gora Park, which can be reached by changing the Hakone Tozan Cable Car from Gora Station at the end of the line, is offering its first afternoon tea (from 2,970 yen) with a hydrangea motif until June 30. This tea is recommended for sightseeing along the train line as well as for viewing hydrangeas on the mountain tram.
