JICA’s Chief Digital Officer (CDO), Hitotsugu Tojima, participated and spoke at the “CDO & CAIO Summit Tokyo 2025 Summer” held in Tokyo on June 4 and 5, 2025.

More than 30 digital transformation leaders in Japan participate face-to-face in this annual summit hosted by CDO Club Japan, a general incorporated association. This is the only event of its kind in Japan, where participants go beyond the boundaries of their companies and organizations to exchange opinions from their individual standpoints.

This year’s summit, which was held in 2025, the year in which social implementation of AI will advance and geopolitics, economics, and values will change drastically, was positioned as a “singularity of social change. The event was a discussion on the future of business and society in Japan and around the world, including the evolution of generative AI and quantum computers, the transformation of corporate management and social structures, and the acquisition and training of human resources and the redefinition of customer experience in the AI age. (More than 1,000 people viewed the session online.)

On the second day of the CDO Summit, CDO Teshima also participated in a round table discussion that lasted over three hours. He introduced JICA’s outline and DX vision, and contributed to the discussion by candidly sharing his challenges in promoting DX initiatives.

In terms of achieving JICA’s organizational vision of “Connecting the World with Trust,” he believes it is important to enhance the resilience of developing countries, which are JICA’s clients, through diversity and inclusiveness in the digital field as well. He pointed out that this will contribute to strengthening the resilience of Japan itself, and thus to Japan’s strengths, through JICA’s efforts in “co-creation” and “circular flow”.

We believe that such opportunities for discussion that transcend organizational boundaries not only help to build and strengthen the external partnerships that JICA values, but also allow us to apply the knowledge and networks gained at these forums to improve the quality of cooperation projects for developing countries. We will continue to participate in and contribute to external events such as this one.
